Welcome to El lloc es aquí, ELEA, a place to find helpful tips and my personal take on different climbing areas in Europe. A highlight of the site is the information on climbing at Sächsische Schweiz (Saxony Switzerland). You probably know the place from the numerous accounts about its strong ethics and bold climbs. However, there is much more that makes the Elbsandsteingebirge a mandatory visit for every climber: a huge collection of exposed needles, impressive walls, and strange rock formations that constitute a dream playground for climbers of all ages and skill-levels. The number of climbing lines is so high and the difficulty and commitment so broadly distributed that gathering beta and choosing the right route is a daunting task. This blog is designed to help you in the process by providing photographic topos and route descriptions as a complement to the existing climbing guides (Kletterführers).
In Climbing destination you will find all the available areas in sub-menus. Inside each section there is general information about the area’s mean features. With time, this menu will grow to include destinations in Switzerland, France and Spain.
In Miscellaneous I’ve gathered posts on random thoughts about my climbing in different places.

This is a really fantastic blog! I used to climb in the Swiss Saxony, but now I moved to Boston 😉 I’ll certainly miss my two great climbing partners from Dresden and Pirna, which introduced me to climbing and taught me the basics of it. From here I’ll continue checking the blog and I look forward for more pictures and routes!

Estoy recopilando info sobre el mundo de los registros de cumbre y los Gipfelbuch del Elbsandstein merecen un capítulo aparte. Sus orígenes, historia, polémicas, normativa y archivo son ejemplares pero todo está en alemán y me cuesta comprender las traducciones online. ¿Sabes si se puede encontrar info en inglés, francés o italiano, idiomas que ya me irían bien para traducir?
Te agradeceré cualquier link o consejo que me puedas dar. ¡Buenas escaladas!
Hola Oscar. Muchas gracias por tu mensaje. La gran desventaja de Elbsandstein es que casi toda la información está en alemán. La información sobre su historia y tradiciones en otras lenguas es prácticamente inexistente. Te recomendaría contactar directamente en inglés con la SBB, la sección local parte del club alpino alemán DAV. Ellos se encargan de todos los Gipfelbuchs y seguramente alguien hablará o podrá escribir en otros idiomas. He estado buscando (sin éxito todavía) la información de los contactos que tenía. En cuanto los tenga te los envío. Yo tengo algunas fuentes en casa que si te interesa podría traducir para alguna cuestion específica. Escríbeme de nuevo y me dices que te parece.

Comentarte que ya envié un email en inglés al Gipfelbucharxiv en 2015 cuando empecé la búsqueda, pero no me respondieron. No obstante, de su web pude traducir y obtener muchos datos ( por cierto, tenían un listado de todos los libros, pero con la nueva web de la SBB no tengo manera de hallarlo… quizás lo estén actualizando). De otras webs he deducido cuál fue el primer Gipfelbuch (de Oskar Schuster y F.Böhme en Schusterturm de Bielatal 1893) y cuál es el más antiguo conservado en Dresde (Mönch 1894, y creo entender que con el primer BERG HEIL! de la historia). Otras cosas que he deducido son los conflictos entre clubes y las crisis de entreguerras, que afectaron a los libros, y sobretodo durante la RDA, que no acabo de entender mucho hasta qué punto las autoridades vigilaban los libros. Por cierto, en Chequia no se quedan cortos y su historia con los libros es también fascinante (Curiosamente, la traducción del checo parece más fiable). Si ves que me puedes aclarar un poquitín alguno de estos temas, perfecto, y si no, igualmente te agradezco el interés. ¡¡Gracias!!!
